Due to weather conditions, the Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center will be closed on Dec. 22.
The State Archives is the offical repository and archives for historical local government records for the 53 counties in North Dakota. Some local government records date prior to statehood. Local government records include material from North Dakota counties, cities, school districts, courts, and township government organizations. Some government records are important for research, reference, or other use appropriate to document the organization, function, policies, and transactions of government and must be transferred to the state archivist for preservation as archival resources.
A map of the counties is below. While the State Archives has records from many counties, townships, and municipalities, please also check with the local governments where records can be located. County office contact information is available at the North Dakota Association of Counties website.
