Although State State Historical Society of North Dakota materials generally do not circulate, most newspapers, North Dakota state censuses, and early atlases are on microfilm and are available through Interlibrary Loan at a charge of $4 per roll ($3 per roll to North Dakota libraries). We encourage researchers to use this service when extensive searching is required of these materials.
Except for a duplicate copy of the 1910 census, Federal censuses are not loaned by the State Historical Society of North Dakota. They can be purchased from the National Archives and Records Administration.
To borrow State Historical Society of North Dakota microfilm, please contact your local library and provide them the newspaper title and dates (or roll number) desired. A staff member at your local library will place the interlibrary loan request.
