Title: Attorney General. Administrative Division, Correspondence Federal, State, and Local Political Subdivisions
Dates: 1973-2009
Record Series: 31708
Quantity: 30.5 feet
Abstract: Consists of correspondence between the Office of Attorney General and Federal agencies, including state congressional delegations; with general and city Attorneys, States Attorneys, County Commissioners, and city, county, and township officials; and with other North Dakota state agencies, boards, or commissions. Includes copies of letters, ballot title review for Secretary of State, Articles of Incorporation for insurance companies, and surveys completed for state entities. It also includes agendas and minutes of committees and boards on which the Attorney General sits (i.e., Pardon Board, Industrial Commission, University and School Lands). It also includes significant correspondence between Assistant Attorneys General/Special Assistant Attorneys General and state entities. Significance of correspondence will be determined by individual attorneys by considering: 1. Whether the issue addressed in the correspondence is likely to recur. 2. Whether the opinion/advice in the correspondence is likely to be challenged. 3. Whether the opinion/advice in the correspondence is applicable to other agencies. 4. Whether the opinion/advice in the correspondence is likely to be relied upon by the agency in the future. Also included are appointment letters from the Attorney General designating appointments on external boards, commissions, and committees, and also includes resignation letters. These will be filed alphabetically by board, commission, or committee (i.e. P.O.S.T Board, Credit Review Board, Education Fact Finding Commission, Retirement Board).
