Provenance: The State Historical Society of North Dakota acquired this collection from Lowell Enoch Torgerson (1908-1991) on January 21, 1971. Another accession was added on August 2, 1971. Originally housed in the A-E photograph collections, Sharon Silengo transferred all the Lowell Enoch Torgerson donations to 2019-P-025 on March 6, 2019. Letters to Frank Vyzralek, State Archivist, dated January 18, 1971 and July 25, 1971 document the donations.

Biographical Sketch
Lowell Enoch Torgerson was born on May 4, 1908 in Kickapoo, Mountrail County (N.D.) to Nels and Randine Maria Haftorn Torgerson. He and his siblings Reuben Nathanael (1903-1970), Given Orlando (1905-1976), Fernando (1907-1908), Neil Miles (1910-1911), Neil Manley (1913-1995), and Fernando Gordon (1918-1989) lived with their parents on their farm until moving to Eagan, Mountrail County (N.D.). At the age of 27 in 1935, Lowell Torgerson moved to Tagus, Mountrail County (N.D.) with his parents. He died on November 14, 1991 in Minot, Ward County (N.D.) and is buried in the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Minot (N.D.)
