Abstract: Consists of individual and group portraits taken at the United Tribes Technical College International Powwows of 2011 and 2012, of the Three Affiliated Tribes (Mandan-Hidatsa-Arikara) at the Fort Berthold Reservation, and of the Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians of Montana.
Provenance: The Herbert Ascherman Jr. photograph collection was donated to the SHSND by Ascherman on June 15, 2018.

BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
A fourth generation Clevelander, Herbert Ascherman Jr. has been photographing professionally since 1975. His work has been published and exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the United States, as well as in Paris, Tokyo and India. Herb is a lecturer and writer on photographic history. He is one of only the few photographers in the United States working commercially in platinum portraiture.
