Abstract: Black and white photos of Rose Marie Lindgren (Kulm, ND) at the Good Samaritan School for Crippled Children (Fargo, ND), which later moved to Jamestown and became the Anne Carlsen School. Anne Carlsen is in several of the photographs.

BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Rose Marie Lindgren, daughter of Margaret and Nels C. Lindgren, was born in Swede Township, north of Kulm (ND), January 4, 1916. Rose Marie attended the country school through the 8th grade and graduated from high school at the Good Samaritan School in Fargo. While attending the school, which is now the Crippled Children's School at Jamestown, ND, she was a member of an extension group of handicapped girls who traveled in the interest of the school, presenting programs of singing and speaking. She also attended the Fargo Business College, and also received credits from the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks, through the rehabilitation program for news writing. From her early childhood she had Muscular Dystrophy, which in later years caused her to become more inactive. In spite of her handicap she led an active life, serving as clerk on the Swede School District for 14 years. She embroidered, crocheted, and painted, beautiful work which she sold. She taught Sunday School for over 25 years, rarely missing a Sunday. She had a lovely Soprano voice, singing for many public services. Her patience, her smiling face, and her willingness to comfort and help others, made her a blessing to many. Rose Marie passed away December 23, 1964.
