Biographical Sketch
From the Bismarck Tribune, Tuesday October 2, 1973

Mrs. Francis (Ada M.) Halloran, 81, a daughter of Bismarck’s pioneer families, died Monday at a Bismarck Hospital. She was born here in 1891 to Sherman and Mary Lyons Maurer and she graduated from Bismarck High School as valedictorian of the class of 1910. She attended Valley City Normal School and taught for 10 years in rural Dawson and Minto and for seven years here at the Will and North Ward schools.

She married Francis Halloran, a postal employee, here on June 29, 1920 and he died in 1940. Mrs. Halloran was a granddaughter of John Lyons who came here in 1871 with his family from Virginia as a soldier assigned to the infantry at Fort Rice. She was a niece of the late Jack Lyons, an early Bismarck café operator.

Mrs. Halloran is a past grand regent of the Bismarck Catholic daughters.

She leaves one son, John, Bismarck, two daughters, Mary, Bismarck and Margaret, Denver, Colo.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. William F. Garvin officiating. Burial will be made in St. Mary’s Cemetery and pallbearers will be Paul Homan, Robert Guthrie, Charles Enders, John Geiermann, Breen Kennedy, and William Fox.
