Abstract: Consists of one volume of meeting minutes and by-laws of the First State Bank of Bowbells, N.D. (1899-1910), one volume of meeting minutes and by-laws of the State Bank of Bowbells (1901-1907), and correspondence (1911-1915) regarding the court case of W. T. Kennedy v. the State Bank of Bowbells.
The Stockholders of the State Bank of Bowbells met on December 16, 1907, and adopted the resolution to dissolve the bank, which was taken over by the First State Bank of Bowbells. In the case of W. T. Kennedy v. the State Bank of Bowbells, Kennedy was found in favor. The case was appealed to the Supreme Court, which upheld the lower court’s decision.
Provenance: The records were removed from the Burke County Clerk of Court, Civil Case Files (Series 41299). The collection was processed and the finding aid created by Emily J. Ergen in December 2009.
