BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

William O'Loughlin was born in Rolla, ND in 1896. Throughout his lifetime, O'Loughlin accumulated a large estate with successful investments, farming, and land purchase in Minnesota and North Dakota. After the death of his bachelor brothers in the first half of the twentieth century, Frank and Vincent, William saw very little of his family, except Dr. Raphael J. O'Brien, Sun City, CA. In early 1964, Oliver A. Lumphrey was appointed guardian of O'Loughlin. William O'Loughlin died on November 28, 1968, at the age of seventy-two years, in Minneapolis, MN, after years battling Parkinson's disease. O'Loughlin had been a time resident at St. Joseph Home and Hospital, River Falls, WI since 1962. He willed half of his nearly two million dollar estate to two Catholic Churches and St. Joseph Home and Hospital. The rest was willed to his first cousins John O'Brien, L.M. Dempsey, Robert O'Brien, R. J. O'Brien, Mrs. Harold Deering, and their children. William O'Loughlin was buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Williston, ND on December 2, 1964.
