Chaska State Historic Site

blue triangle Chaska

Chaska marks the approximate location of Camp Banks, an encampment used on August 2, 1863, by the Sibley expedition. Chaska, an American Indian scout, died at Camp Banks and was buried in the fortification ditch surrounding the campsite. A bronze interpretive plate on a granite column can be found here as a memorial.
