Free Disaster Response Recovery Workshops for Museums, Libraries and Archive

BISMARCK The State Historical Society of North Dakota is hosting a free hands-on disaster response recovery workshop on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at the North Dakota Heritage Center in Bismarck. Staff and volunteers from all area museums, libraries, archives and other collecting institutions are invited to register for the workshops sponsored by the Dakota Collections Care Initiative (DCCI).

The workshops are an opportunity for local collecting institutions to learn about various disaster scenarios and allow participants to participate in several disaster drills. The focus will be on response, recovery and salvage techniques within the first 24 to 48 hours of a disaster. Although the workshops are free, registration is required online at http://dcciworkshops2013.eventbrite.com/ and closes July 30.

Twenty travel stipends are available. Stipends of up to $100 per person may be used for lodging and mileage reimbursement. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis and may be requested through the online registration process.

Additional information about DCCI and a detailed workshop schedule are posted at the State Historical Society of North Dakota website at http://history.nd.gov/dcci/index.html. More information is available by calling 701.355.4458.
