BISMARCK – The public is invited to a day of individual and family activities on Saturday, March 15 commemorating National Quilters’ Day. Quilt ‘til You Drop! events will take place from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the North Dakota Heritage Center, located on the state capitol grounds in Bismarck.
All events, except for quilting classes, are free and open to the public. They are sponsored by the State Historical Society of North Dakota and the Capital Quilters of Bismarck.
The event will feature classes, open sewing opportunities, and a quilt show. Capital Quilters of Bismarck will conduct quilting classes from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. with their quilting instructors including Michelle Ripplinger, Alice Schott, Martha Downs, Deb Long, and Jenny Yearous. During Open Sewing throughout the day, quilters are welcome to work on their own projects sewing projects or finish a class project. Space is limited, so registration is required. A quilt show showcasing talents of the Capital Quilters will be open to the public at the North Dakota Heritage Center from Saturday, March 15 through Sunday, March 16.
Since 1981, the Capital Quilters have participated in numerous quilt shows, displays and demonstrations. The group has also featured quilts in several exhibits at BAGA and the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library, and sponsored many quilt shows. They also host Quiltfest in late October.
