BISMARCK — The State Historical Society of North Dakota (SHSND) is making $200,000 available in grant funding through the 2014 Cultural Heritage Grant Program. This program provides grant funding for local museums and historical societies.
Cultural Heritage Grants provide funding for exhibits, a special project or event, education activities, collections and capital improvements. Interested eligible organizations should thoroughly read the guidelines and submit applications to the State Historical Society of North Dakota. Applications must be accepted (not postmarked) by the SHSND by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014.
Also available through the Cultural Heritage Fund program are Heritage Training Scholarships, the North Dakota Museum Assessment Program (NDMAP), and the Archival Supply Purchase Grants. Heritage Training Scholarships are available for local and county historical society staff members to participate in training opportunities. An individual can apply for any number of scholarships throughout the biennium, but the total amount awarded cannot exceed $2,000 per individual. Funds for the scholarship program will be awarded until the fund is exhausted.
Administered by the State Historical Society of North Dakota, the Cultural Heritage Grant Program was created in 2003. In 2013, the North Dakota Legislature authorized $504,500 for the 2013-2015 biennium for this program’s grant funding.
Application for any Cultural Heritage Grant programs are available on the SHSND’s website at history.nd.gov or by contacting SHSND Grants and Contracts Officer Amy Munson at 701.328.3573.
