BISMARCK – The State Historical Society of North Dakota (SHSND) has added another location to its schedule of free workshops for county, local, and tribal organizations this summer. “Good, Better, Best: Museum Standards and Best Practices,” workshops will allow museum staff, board members, and volunteers to better understand the best practices and standards currently being used by small museums.
Presenter Danielle Stuckle, Outreach Coordinator for the SHSND, will also discuss the StEPs program and how it can be used to evaluate policies and procedures and help museums better achieve their missions. Other featured topics will include collections care and management; care and maintenance of buildings; and general administration and management. Workshops will include a discussion of museum projects going on around the region, and a tour of the host museum.
The first workshop will be held at the Cass County Historical Society in West Fargo, ND on June 14 at 1 p.m. The registration deadline for the West Fargo workshop is June 7. A second workshop will be held on June 21 at 1 p.m. at the National Buffalo Museum in Jamestown, ND. The registration deadline for the Jamestown workshop is June 14. A third workshop will be held on June 28 at 1 p.m. at the Sargent County Historical Society and Museum in Forman, ND. The registration deadline for the Forman workshop is June 21.
