THE ARTHUR A. LINK FIDDLE CONTEST WINNERS CONCERT
AND RECEPTION AT THE NORTH DAKOTA FORMER GOVERNORS’ MANSION.
The Society for the Preservation of the Former Governors’ Mansion will be holding the second annual Governor Arthur A. Link Fiddle Contest Monday, February 16. The contest is family friendly and violin students from across North Dakota are invited to participate in this event. There are two divisions this year: Junior—grades 1 through 5; and Senior—grades 6 through 12. All contestants will receive a certificate signed by Governor and Mrs. Link. Cash scholarships will be provided to the persons chosen for recognition: $400 for first place, $300 for second place in the Senior Division and $200 for first place and $100 for second place in the Junior Division. The contest will take place from 10 to 4 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church across the street from the Former Governors’ Mansion, and is open to the public that day. The Society for the Preservation of the Former Governors’ Mansion will have lunch items available for purchase throughout the day.
The Former Governors’ Mansion will be open that day starting at 8 a.m. for contestants and their families to hang out, relax and jam. Coffee, tea, juice and light snacks will be available throughout the day. The public is welcome to tour the mansion that day as well.
A concert featuring the 3 top performers from the contest will take place at 6 p.m. in the community hall of Trinity Lutherian. Church Roswell Henke of Bismarck will be the MC for the event. Following the concert, at 7:30 pm a reception and jam session will take place at the Former Governors’ Mansion. Coffee, tea and treats will be served.
