IN 1893 he was married by Mary Sorenson of Luck, Wisconsin. They had five children: Stella, Edna, Lyle, Elmer and Alvina. On February 2, 1910, Mary passed away, and Nils married Gertrude Kilpatrick of Rockford, Washington, on June 2, 1912. They had two children: Winifred and Laverne. The family lived on the farm until they moved to Oberon, then New Rockford. He was a director of the Benson County Agricultural School at Maddock, and was president of the board of directors.
